<Klurg> Zack scoots into the briefing room, then plops down on a nearby seat.
<Varren> Ezekiel wanders the breakroom and sits next to tally, puts his boots up in the table and smiles at her. "Foot better?"
<Teslatornado> Ruben has been in the briefing room for like 20 minutes. Bitch.
<NeonSkitty> Freya doops into the briefing room, ducking under the doorway and waving sheepishly to the people inside.
<Odocoileus> She lifts up her hood a little and smiles at Ezekiel."yes! They regrew me a brand new foot!" She plops it up on the table and wiggles her boot a little
<Varren> "Good, glad that wasnt permanent..woulda felt bad" he waves at Freya and grins at Ruben. "Let's hope no one loses a limb."
<NeonSkitty> "Will make sure your limbs are accounted for."
<Klurg> "Let's try and not jinx us and piss off the limb removal deities."
<Odocoileus> "I really don't want to lose another."
<Varren> "I never jinx people for the most part." He grins happily. "I will try and keep all of you in one piece."
<NeonSkitty> "Please keep attention to your limbs. Tape them maybe, so they do not run away."
<ArseneLupin> The briefer enters the room, same messy black hair and unlit cigarette in his mouth and he always has because fuck off Loopy isnt gonna make more than one briefer
<ArseneLupin> He tosses some files onto the table for you all before taking his place at the front of the room
<Varren> Ezekiel takes two and hands one to Tally, opening his and poking around its contents
<Teslatornado> Ruben grunts as the file is plopped in front of him, not bothering to acknowledge his meat-shield.
<NeonSkitty> Freya watches Mister Briefer quietly.
<Odocoileus> "thank you." She smiles at him and flips open her file
<ArseneLupin> The contents of the file are pretty brief, there has been conflicting sightings of a monster in a town in the Italian countryside, and while normally this would be brushed off, this is a town where anomalous events has occured before
<Varren> "A monster? Like what? If it's in Italy could it be Ouroboros?"
<Teslatornado> Ruben looks at Briefer incredulously over the top of his folder. "Is some wingy cunt gonna try and bite my fucking neck off this time too?"
<Teslatornado> "Oh, Italy. Again."
<ArseneLupin> "We dont think it is, although there was Ouroboros sightings here a few months back, the first encounter in recent history in fact." He looks at Ruben. "We can neither confirm nor deny."
<Teslatornado> "That's a yes."
<NeonSkitty> "Italy is pretty."

<Varren> "Wait I think I know this one. Was this the one with the Spike Bear Thing?" He frowns "maybe the activity attracted an wild anomaly? Any descriptions?"
<Varren> "Oh then yes please."

<ArseneLupin> "That's the one. As for descriptions…" He flips through a file of his own. "Apparently it was described as having some sort of camouflage, one man said he got attacked by a bush. Another said he saw a creature dissolve into dust and appear a few feet away a few moments later charging him. And finally one said he was being chased when the sun came up, and before he knew it the creature was gone."
<NeonSkitty> "All of them is some thing that is good at hiding, no? Common denominator."
<ArseneLupin> "Your guess is as good as mine honestly."
<NeonSkitty> "Eeeech…"
<NeonSkitty> "I am notoriously bad at guessing. This does not bode well."
<Varren> "Preda-….wait nevermind."
<ArseneLupin> "Anyone got any question before you head out?"
<Klurg> "Any gear you could give that could help us?"
<ArseneLupin> "Nothing with what little we know, although there's apparently a rather popular hunting store in town so if you buy anything there you will be reimbursed."

<ArseneLupin> "Yes, you can choose whatever cover you want but Monster Hunters might work the best, the monster has been seen in the woods so keep the big gun in the car."
<Varren> "Hmm. Guess we will find out when we get there then. Go old fashioned groundwork." Ezekiel hums softly and shakes his head. "I got nothin!"
<NeonSkitty> "Let's go, then. We have much work to do."
<ArseneLupin> He gestures for you lot to leave
<NeonSkitty> Freya heads out to get her stuff!
<Varren> Ezekiel leaves and checks out his gear from the armory. He then heads to the dropship, in his usual casual looking gear and armor with a green jacket over.
<Teslatornado> Ruben is still hanging out in the briefing room.

<Teslatornado> "… So all of the sightings were confined to one geographical area, yeah?"

<NeonSkitty> Freya loads her minigun into a crate, opting to leave her hardsuit behind for this mission! She just takes her tank-top and work pants. Shore!

<Teslatornado> Ruben remembers to drink coffee and eat before the next brief.
<NeonSkitty> Her shotgun's also with her!
<Teslatornado> He grabs his Compaq, goes to the Armory, laughs at the armorer (Bud is unamused), refuses his standard-issue sidearm. Whips up his kitchen_sink. Heads out to the dropship bay.

<Varren> Ezekiel is waiting and drinking coffee while chatting with the pilot

<ArseneLupin> You all take a rather dull dropship ride and are given a car before you pull into the small town. It's lively and a few people stare at you all funny as you enter the town
<ArseneLupin> There are 3 notable locations. The Library where the Librarian is apparently a gossip, The Bar, and the Hunting Shop.
<ArseneLupin> You are free to enter anywhere else you think of that makes sense as well if you think of anywhere
<teslatornado> Ruben is pretty used to getting funny looks. He buttons his flannel over his t-shirt ("I Fucked The Pope") and makes a straight dead line for the bar.
<Klurg> "This thing's happenin' in the woods, so maybe hunting shop knows more 'bout this. Anyone here speak italian?"
<ArseneLupin> …Alright Ruben if you're gonna B-Line it to the bar go to HI2 providing no one stops you

<ArseneLupin> The not buff not hot people wave back with a strange look
<Varren> "People always talk in bars. But I will start in the shop for now. Join if you'd like "
<Varren> Ezekiel whistles and struts off towards the hunting shop
<NeonSkitty> "Iiii will come to the shop with you."
<Varren> "Carry me?"
<NeonSkitty> Freya lifts Ezekiel under one arm and walks to the shop. :|

<Odocoileus> Tally covers her face more with her hood as she chuckles quietly and follows Freya and Ezekiel.
<Varren> "Wait-i wasnt-eh…fuck it! Tallyho!" He point at the shop and let this happen
<Klurg> Zack heads to the hunting shop as well

<ArseneLupin> The shop is a nice medium sized shop with a deer head mounted outside and a few guns in the window
<Klurg> Zack cracks his knuckles. "Alright, let's get to asking. Any of you want to take it from here?"
<Varren> "I can! I like people."
<NeonSkitty> Freya ducks in and waves with an Ezekial under her arm!
<Varren> "Hello! We have interest in-freya, put me down please so I can conversate with them while standing?"
<NeonSkitty> Freya does so! "… Sorry." o3o
<ArseneLupin> Once you head inside you see the standard fair for hunting shops with some bait, beartraps, guns, nothing too crazy but a very good selection. The man behind the counter has curly brown hair and one /hell/ of a black eye. "Uhh, sure I can help with what you're interested in probably."
<Odocoileus> Tally just rubs the back of her neck and looks around the shop a bit. Are there any other people there?
<ArseneLupin> A father and son pair looking at some rifles
<Varren> "You are fine Dear." He moves to the counter and smiles. "Alright so we may be un town due to some interesting rumors we have heard." He is grinning warmly and looks very friendly. "Also I may want to buy a gun or two."
<ArseneLupin> You can almost see the dollar signs in his eyes at that buying line. "Is that so?"
<Klurg> Zack begins browsing the wares as Ezekiel talks.
<ArseneLupin> Got some rather extensive bait selection for different kinds of animals, some traps, snare guides, guns
<Varren> Anything Fancy Looking for guns? Or revolvers?
<Odocoileus> Tally window shops and slowly works towards the father and son to see if they are talking about anything juicy.
<ArseneLupin> He has some rather nice pieces yeah, a rather nice revolver that may or may not be just for show

<Varren> "Yeah. I like to collect guns and if we are following monster rumors I might am want something as a back up. What are some of the ones you have heard? Seeing as you live here."
<NeonSkitty> Freya just kind'a hangs out, knowing that she's not going to top what she already has.

<Varren> Model 3 revolver in nickel with pearl grips. Basically a Schofield. Ezekiel points at that one. "On water? Like shallow water? Was her woods drinking?"
<ArseneLupin> Tally you hear the man talking to his kid. "Alright Jimmy, we gonna get that sumbitch tomorrow, gonna hang it on our wall."
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep shakes his head. "Nope, full on lake."
<Varren> "Did he get a look at what it was besides four legs?" He taps the glass over the model 3. "Will take that one by the way. I like its look."
<ArseneLupin> He nods and rings you up for the appropriate amount. "Said it's eyes were like a snake."
<Odocoileus> She lifts up her hood a little and looks the man and child over. "Um… Excuse me… What are you going to hang on your wall?"
<ArseneLupin> The man looks over to Tally and grins, showing off one of his missing front teeth. "We gonna hunt ourselves a monstah!"
<Varren> "Slit eyes and four legs…that's not an animal I know. Could be a big cat maybe but I get the feeling a mountain lion is too easy." Ezekiel pays for that. "Any scent cover available?"
<Varren> "Have you seen anything personally?"
<ArseneLupin> "We got that yeah." He starts finding some. "Nah, I dont hunt myself, I just sell to hunters."
<Odocoileus> "monster?" She tilts her head and peers out from under her hood a little. "You know where it is?"
<NeonSkitty> Freya listens quietly, and goes to look through the shotguns!
<ArseneLupin> His grin fades a little. "Well uh, not exactly." The boy chimes in. "But Papa's the best damn hunter in town!"
<Varren> "That's like a tattoo artists with no tattoos. Might be a fun hobby." He taps at the glass idly and adjusts the rifle bag in his shoulder.
<Odocoileus> She looks up at the man. "Yeah? I am a bit of a hunter myself. How do you plan on tracking it on down? I assume you have seen it before then?"
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep hands over the spray after payment. "Allergies man."
<ArseneLupin> The hunter coughs a little. "With uh, scents and uh, bait. You know, usual stuff."
<Varren> "Oh well that explains it. And sorry to hear that. By the way it think my large friend wants to see your shotguns." He takes his supplies and stands near the door.
<ArseneLupin> He looks over. "You need any help there?" He ask her
<NeonSkitty> "… No, no, just uh… Browsing."
<NeonSkitty> She waves the question off!
<ArseneLupin> He shrugs
<NeonSkitty> "… You carry fifty-caliber?"
<ArseneLupin> "I think so, not too much though."
<NeonSkitty> "Eh, nevermind then." She shruggies back.
<Varren> "Oh byyyyyy the way. How did you get the black eye? Problems in town we should know?"
<ArseneLupin> "Just uh…" He thinks for a moment. "Just a bit of bad blood."
<NeonSkitty> Freya slips over. "… You want me to punch someone?"
<Odocoileus> She tilts her head up at the man. "Oh! What kinda bait do you plan on using?"
<Varren> "Oh? Wanna chat about it? I want be around long I am a good ear."
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep's eyes widen. "N-no! It's fine! I deserved it!"
<NeonSkitty> "Oh, alright then."
<ArseneLupin> The hunter blinks. "You know, like meat."
<Varren> "That sounds…what did you do?" He approaches the counter again out of interest.
<NeonSkitty> "… I should go find, uh… The other boy. Will meet up with you all later?"
<Klurg> Zack decides to go buy some traps and guides on how to set them up. "Sounds good to me."
<Varren> "Yeah sure thing." Ezekiel am waves and then turns back to the shop owner. "Alright so what happened? You can trust me."
<NeonSkitty> Freya doops out of the shop to hunt Ruben down!
<ArseneLupin> Freya TT to go to the bar where you last saw Ruben
<Odocoileus> She just stares at him and shakes her head a little bit. "You do not big game hunt much, do you?"
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep rubs the back of his head. "I uh… did some shit I shouldnt have and pissed off someone."
<ArseneLupin> The hunter looks insulted. "Excuse you missy, I will have you know I have killed Bigfoot!"
<Odocoileus> "you have killed monsters before? Sorry sorry. I do not realize that you were proficient in the sport." She waves her baggy sleeves a little.
<ArseneLupin> He nods proudly and crosses his arms. "It's aight, you didnt know."
<Varren> Ezekiel cringes and chuckles. He knows that look he had it once. "I think I know…I did it once by accident. Jumped out a window half naked. But before I go do you know anyone else who might have info on this creature?"
<ArseneLupin> He goes a little red out of embarassment. "That would probably be Dean, the fucking gossip."
<Odocoileus> "so what is this thing you are hunting? It is big? I assume it's been seen near by, right?"
<Varren> "Gossip…he have a big mouth?" Ezekiel cant help but smirk a little. "Where can I find him? If you dont mind?"
<ArseneLupin> "It's what people are calling the Stillwoods Monster! And yeah it's big as shit! In the woods."
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep snickers a little. "Yeah, he's the local librarian"
<Klurg> Zack occasionally side eyes the boasting hunter, doubt at his words surging through his very being
<ArseneLupin> You dont even need to roll bluff he is bullshiting so hard
<Odocoileus> "is it diurnal or nocturnal? "
<Varren> "One last thing. Has anyone mentioned finding dropping of this thing? Or does it just not shit?"
<ArseneLupin> "Nocturnal." The hunter says
<ArseneLupin> The shopkeep shakes his head. "No shit we could find."
<Odocoileus> Her eyes narrow a little. "night hunting is rough. Make sure you stay safe." She smiles from under her hood up at him.
<ArseneLupin> "Oh you dont have to worry about me missy, thank ye though."
<Odocoileus> "my name is not missy, and of course." She looks back over to the counter and glances at Ezekiel. "I should get back to my friend. Good luck on your hunt." She back off and trots over to the front
<Varren> Ezekiel nods to the gun shop owner and heads for the door where he waits for Tally. "And man….I'd settle that black eye business in a good way if you can..shit haunts small towns." He leaves and goes for the library when tally follows
<ArseneLupin> Zack before you all leave what kind of trap you buying?
<Odocoileus> She waits until they are outside. "I have a name of an area it could be found possibly and I hope you are a fan of hunting big game at night."
<Varren> Oh he waitsbfir zack as well
<Klurg> Let's say… snares, nets, and bear traps. And bait.
<Varren> "I got scent cover and some info…the things shifts shape so smi could be a mental thing or a shapeshifting creature. Both pretty dangerous." He doesnt mention the gun, he had other reasons.
<Odocoileus> She tenses up at the mention of a shape shifter. "What kind of scent?"
<ArseneLupin> Easy enough Zack
<Varren> "Our scent covered with…deer probably? I didnt ask for a specific"
<Odocoileus> She taps a finger to her lip in thought. "We need to figure out what this thing is exactly. We do not wish to turn ourselves accidentally into bait like I have done before."
<Varren> "Well that depends…live bait is probably the best. Trapped animal makes a lot of noise and could draw it in. We dont even know if it kills animals or just goes after people..wait" at the shop owner. "Has it killed animals or people or both?"
<ArseneLupin> "Killed animals, attacked people."
<Odocoileus> "we use offal to lure it out then."
<Klurg> Zack begins reading the manual for these traps as they talk. "Sounds good, though if worse comes to worse, I'm the most qualified to be bait."
<ArseneLupin> Easy enough to set
<Odocoileus> She looks up at Zack and deadpans. "No."
<Varren> "There we go" he looks back to tally. "Maybe like a shark..doesnt like human. Or defending its territory by wounding." He hums and walks out the door of the shop
<Odocoileus> She nods. "With territorial animals, they patrol a certain area and if the boundaries over lap, land disputes become a common occurrence. I suggest we find where all the attacks on people took place to get a better idea of where the boarder of that territory is and that is the line we will cross. Plus, since this animal is on high alert with more people crossing that boarder, a definitive marker should be in that area
<Odocoileus> once we figure that out."
<Klurg> Zack nods. "Sounds like a plan. Though how are we gonna mark the territory exactly?"
<Odocoileus> "the library. They should have maps and old news of where the attacks on people occurred."
<Varren> "Bodies…marks on tree…dung…all that stuff should tell us when we are there. Lack of other animals too." He grins and starts walking "to the library then!"

<ArseneLupin> Alright Ruben as you walk in you see an asian man sitting at a booth alone, a /very/ tired and annoyed looking bartender, and a blonde man mopping the floor while humming
<teslatornado> Lively crowd. Ruben sighs in relief, makes his way to the bar. Climbs up onto a stool, and clears his throat as he gently pushes the Compaq in front of himself with his foot.
<ArseneLupin> The blonde man waves to Ruben as he walks past him and the bartender sighs. "What'dya having?"
<teslatornado> Ruben waves back. "Oh good. English. Thank fuck."
<teslatornado> "Gin and cranberry, club soda, rocks."
<teslatornado> "Open tab."
<ArseneLupin> He nods and start mixing the drink. "Get a fair few tourists in."
<teslatornado> Ruben nods back. "Wild times, I guess."
<teslatornado> "Beasts in the wild and all."
<teslatornado> "Like living in a fucking fairy tale, if you're into that."
<ArseneLupin> "Not the first time it's happened either. Folks are starting to say those woods are cursed."
<teslatornado> By now Ruben has crossed his arms in front of himself and is resting his chin on his forearms, reading the labels of the bottles on the liquor shelf. "Only starting to now?"
<ArseneLupin> Not amazing brands Ruben
<ArseneLupin> He hands you your drink. "That's what happen when the wildlife gets nearly killed off and then you have monsters roaming around only months later."
<teslatornado> Ruben reaches out and takes the drink into his left hand, tipping it up over his right forearm and into his mouth. Takes a long sip. Purses his lips, nods quietly, puts the drink down again. "Poaching problems?"
<ArseneLupin> He scoffs. "I wish. Some weird ass monster that time too, but at least it had the decency to leave."
<teslatornado> "Different monster?"
<ArseneLupin> "Yeah, not the same rumors this time so we think it's something else."
<teslatornado> "So this is a recurrent thing? Like, once every few years, some mysterious monster appears in the woods, disrupts the local ecosystem, then disappears?"
<ArseneLupin> "No, just started last year."
<teslatornado> "Mnuuuuh, that's frustrating." Ruben sips his drink again. Plays with the stirring straw. Watches the ice go round, round, round… "Any newsworthy events before that, or would I need to go looking for those?"
<teslatornado> "Town's got microfiche, right? Or some kind of news archive?"
<ArseneLupin> "I wouldnt know, sorry. But yeah you might be able to find that down at the Library, just try not to get sucked into a conversation with Dean."
<teslatornado> Ruben restrains himself from making a comment about Dean sucking.
<teslatornado> "Right. Visit Dean at the library, anything else I should be aware of? Any other tourists around toting heavy artillery and trying to blast some heretofore-unseen abomination out of existence?"
<ArseneLupin> "I mean the monster isnt unseen but no."
<teslatornado> Ruben blinks. Headcocks. Then blinks again. "No I don't mean unseen like - never mind."
<teslatornado> "Is anyone else here trying to find your mysterious woodland visitor?"
<ArseneLupin> "Well Danny and his son are deadset on hunting it down the crazy bastard."
<teslatornado> <teslatornado> Ruben blinks. Headcocks. Then blinks again. "No I don't mean unseen like - never mind."
<teslatornado> <teslatornado> "Is anyone else here trying to find your mysterious woodland visitor?"
<ArseneLupin> "Well Danny and his son are deadset on hunting it down the crazy bastard."
<teslatornado> "Anyone tried to talk them out of it? Seems like about as dumb an idea as anyone could have."
<ArseneLupin> "We tried, he just fits the bill of the idea pretty damn well."
<teslatornado> "What about yonder Asian fellow?" Ruben tips his head back towards the sad-looking loner in the booth.
<ArseneLupin> "Ah, that's Michael. He's uh… not going through a good time."
<teslatornado> "Ah. My condolences."
<teslatornado> "So he's camped out here to drown his sorrows."
<ArseneLupin> "More or less yeah."
<teslatornado> Ruben makes a 'mm' noise. Turns towards Michael for a second, weighing the odds of interacting with this man versus his own aversion to talking to strangers that aren't serving him alcohol or information.
<teslatornado> Then turns back to his drink. "'s nothing related to the crazy, right?"
<ArseneLupin> Michael downs his drink a you turn and signals for another drink. The peppy blonde man responds eagerly and gets him one
<ArseneLupin> "Nah, just a nasty divorce."
<teslatornado> "Oof."
<ArseneLupin> "Caught his wife with Rufus from the Hunting Goods shop."
<teslatornado> "Oof."
<ArseneLupin> "Oof indeed my friend."
<teslatornado> Ruben visibly grimaces at that, then pouts a little, rimming his upper lip over the edge of the glass and sipping at his drink again.
<teslatornado> "Well. He's not thinking about doing anything stupid, is he?"
<teslatornado> "Or hasn't made mention of it, at least?"
<ArseneLupin> "Nah, he aint the type." The bartender smiles a little. "He did give Rufus a nasty black eye though."
<teslatornado> Ruben snorts. "Fucking good on him, then."
<teslatornado> He reaches into his pants pocket, fishes for his wallet. Pulls out a twenty-dollar bill and slides it onto the bar. "Cover whatever he buys next off the change from this, along with my drink. Keep him here, or get him a ride to a hostel or something if he tries to leave."
<teslatornado> "I've got a pit in my stomach."
<teslatornado> "Can't say why."
<ArseneLupin> He takes it and nods. "Alrighty then, you're a good man."
<teslatornado> Ruben scoffs. "You're the first to ever claim that."
<teslatornado> "Dean at the library, right?"
<ArseneLupin> He smiles a little more. "Hopefully not the last. Yeah."
<teslatornado> Ruben nods. Takes hold of the glass with his teeth, makes a weird expression as he forces his lower jaw forward, tipping the glass up and onto his crossed forearms and emptying the rest of the contents into his mouth.
<teslatornado> Then he stands up, gives a nod to Blondie and Michael, and heads for the library.

<ArseneLupin> The library is a little bit of a walk but you can find it pretty easy. Once you get inside you see a scrawny man with combed brown hair and glasses standing behind the desk
<teslatornado> Ruben's feeling a little better now. He gives said mousy-looking guy a wave as he walks in. "H'lo. Need to see your news archives."
<ArseneLupin> The man smiles. "Oh hello there. What are you looking for?"
<teslatornado> "Uh, funny thing that." Ruben scratches the back of his head, then hitches a thumb over his shoulder towards the aptly-named Spanky's. "I just came from the bar, was asking about your town's little, uh."
<teslatornado> "Problem."
<ArseneLupin> "Ah, the Stillwoods Monster."
<teslatornado> Ruben tilts his head to the side a bit. "… Yes? It has a name?"

<ArseneLupin> He claps his hands together. "Of course of course follow me!" He starts leading. "The Stillwoods monster is a bit of an oddity when it comes to monsters. Mostly because no one can agree on what it is. Some say it's an animal, others a man, others say it's some kind of skeleton."

<ArseneLupin> He nods. "A few weeks back."
<teslatornado> Ruben nods back. Shuffles along after Dean. (Presumably it's Dean.) "Right. Did anything precede it showing up?"
<teslatornado> "Any… I don't know, any ominous happenings, flocks of crows, sounds in the woods, odd weather, anything like that?"
<ArseneLupin> "Well a few months back we had another supposed monster. Ate a bunch of animals."
<teslatornado> "A monster that… Wasn't the Monster-monster?"
<ArseneLupin> "Yeah, two monsters in less than a year, what are the odds?!"

<teslatornado> Ruben scratches the side of his head. Tries to avoid sounding as unenthused as he actually is, and mostly succeeds.

<teslatornado> "Excellent. Uhm. I may have a few favours to ask of you as well, if you've nothing better to occupy your time with?"

<Odocoileus> She relaxes a little. " I have a good idea of what we should do. We should be careful, since we know other civilians are hunting this creature."
<teslatornado> "There were monster attacks reported as well, and the only thing that stopped them was a bunch of people showing up and killing it."

We split in to two teams and leave the last point to be used as a last resort rendezvous, and a final destination point with evac and containment on standby. We will set out our major trap there and if things don't go as planned. We have an escape route."
