Born in New York, 1927 to a French businessman and an American Librarian, Samantha has been interested in books from a young age. She was brought up bilingual, speaking French and English, and learnt Spanish and German at school. In 1945 she went to university and learnt Russian and Latin. In 1952 she discovered an anomalous text whilst studying in the New York Public Library, and was soon contacted by the Serpent's Hand. They realized her value as an operative, and took her in as a member. The Serpent's Hand managed to convince Samantha that the Foundation were seeking to get rid of anomalous and rare texts, greatly angering her, and soon the Hand decided that she should become a spy for the organisation. They made her truly despise the Foundation, through a mixture of white lies and the truth - Samantha feels that all sources of knowledge should be free for anyone to view, including anomalous items. They soon trained her as a spy, before, in 1956, she was given a job in translating for the NYPD, where her skills were seen by the Foundation. Whilst working in the NYPD, the Serpent's Hand set up an anomalous encounter, attracting the attention of the Foundation. Soon after, she was hired by the Foundation.
Samantha agreed to spy on the Foundation, as she wants to help prevent them from capturing anomalous texts, books, and any items which may help provide a means of expanding the knowledge of humanity. She does not want the Foundation to discover the Library, and so is working from within them to find out compromising information, and to give this to the Hand. She also attempts to discover information on anomalous artifacts, which she also means to supply to the Hand.
Samantha speaks English, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, German, and Latin fluently, and has a good knowlege of Japanese, Polish, Greek, and Mandarin.
Doesn't like creepy crawlies.
