Rodney Murray

Player: RAWisJimbo

Position: Field Agent

Demeanor: Rodney seems like an amiable and sociable guy at first. To an extent, he is. He tends to laugh a lot, though sometimes it's unsure what he's laughing about.

Nature: Deep down, Rodney is an optimistic nihilist. He knows humanity won't last long, but he's ready to enjoy what time it has, helping it survive for as long as it can, no matter how short it may be. Rodney has temper issues that can sometimes just result from even a moderate amount of verbal poking, and that can lead him into situations where he ends up damaging relationships with friends, leading to some people thinking he's hard to talk to. Overall, though, he tries his best. He is also very, very obsessed with music.

Description: Rodney is a large and broad bear of a human being. Standing at 191 cm (6'3"), and weighing 99 kg (220 lbs), along with a naturally built frame, he can appear quite intimidating. His hair is a brown half-kept lump with two strands falling into his face, with heavy stubble covering his lower face. His eyes are of a deep-looking blue shade. Typically, when not in uniform, Rodney is seen wearing a black and dark yellow sports jacket and an assorted variety of t-shirts and jeans.

  • Big Guy: 2. Rodney is a big guy. In his first job as a guard, he learned to use his size to his advantage to intimidate those who are alone. (When there is only one remaining enemy in a group, Rodney gains +2 to his intimidation.)
  • Keep Pushing It!: 3. Rodney doesn't like to stop going when he gets hurt. As his father used to say when he got knocked down in little league baseball as a kid, "Just keep pushing it." (When at 6 PHP or below, Rodney can choose to gain +3 resilience, lasting for one turn only. This specialty cannot be used again, if Rodney were to be healed and again knocked below 6 PHP.)
  • Feeling Feint: 3. Among Rodney's sports when he was in school, he did boxing and wrestling. From this he picked up some pretty clever hand-to-hand tactics. (When in Melee combat, Rodney can perform a feint that breaks guard. Rodney rolls melee, and if his roll goes over the defender's, the difference gets added to his next melee damage dice. This can only be performed once per enemy, and the bonus only works on the feinted enemy. If the move fails, and Rodney does not roll higher than the enemy, Rodney is left vulnerable to an attack of opportunity.)

Personal History:

Rodney Thomas Murray was born in 1953 to a middle-class American family in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. From there he had a generally average upbringing, with an eventual move to Chicago, Illinois in 1967. While growing up he found himself a growing passion for athletics, and he played in school sports as much as he could. Eventually, he ended up dropping out of high school in 1970, claiming he didn't see school taking him anywhere.

After a years of hopping part-time jobs, Rodney found himself in a security gig at a casino. He stayed here for a few years, and eventually found himself hopping between security jobs. His large frame and intimidating appearance helped him out in this field, and he gained quite a reputation among businesses who wanted to up security.

Eventually, he caught the Foundation's eye. From there, his general skill with intimidation and strength led to him becoming a Field Agent, which is his current occupation. He has been trained by not only his 10 years of security experience, but now the Foundation.

Rodney is absolutely obsessed with music, and particularly a band known as Chicago, (formerly Chicago Transit Authority) as it was a band he first found out about two years after moving to Chicago. The Chicago Transit Authority Album was his first ever vinyl record, and later cassette tape. He has a cassette player in his room, and carries a walkman wherever he goes.

Improved Weaponry: Befitting their role as the decommissioning squad, Psi-7 operatives may be provided with advanced weapons and combat training that gives them just a little bit of edge over other agents. The agents gets one Light or Normal melee weapon or one Light, Normal, or Heavy ranged weapon that uses different damage dice than a regular weapon of that type. 2d2 for Light weapons, 2d3 for Normal, and 2d5 for Heavy.
