Robin was born to your average rancher family in southern Texas in 19. She was quickly introduced to a harsh environment, as her father was an alcoholic and gun nut who would regularly beat his wife. At school, she was outcast as she took no interest in the stuff which was supposedly 'girly', while the boys wouldn't accept her because she was a girl. This upset her quite a lot, and, as a teen, she started to make herself less feminine on purpose.
Her father didn't appreciate this, and started to hit her alongside her mother. She didn't care, and actually started to train herself physically. She dropped out of school, her grades already failing for a long time, and decided to run off. She wound up encountering a group of local delinquents, who didn't actually recognize her as a girl, and tried beating her up and robbing her. What they got, however, was a good fight.
Robin was actually taken into the gang, her compatriots convinced she was a guy. She didn't mind this, and her androgynous name helped keep this from being a problem. Eventually, the group returned to Robin's home and beat up her father, warning him that if he hurts Robin or her mother ever again, he'll have it a lot worse.
After this, Robin went off to see the world, or, at the very least, America. She brought a couple of friends along for this, four of them total, and they took turns driving as they went from state to state and tried all kinds of things for themselves. For a while, Robin undertook boxing as a career. Being the only person at the time to bring any cash in for the group and acting as a 'guardian' for them, she was nicknamed by her friends 'bro', despite the fact that by now they had figured out she wasn't really a guy.
After some great victories and a failed acting career, the group had enough money, after selling their car, to get everyone bikes. They continued their lives like this until the winter of 56. One December they in Washington, the group stopped by to help out a family which had apparently crashed their car in a ditch because of the ice. What they encountered was an anomaly trying to lure them in to consume their flesh. It was stopped, however, when Bro reportedly 'beat the living shit out of it with her bare hands'. The Foundation agents that had been dispatched to the area took the group in, and ended up hiring Robin to work as a field agent, while her friends would work as informants. Glad to get her hands dirty, she accepted the offer, while her friends could finally get the money they need while doing what they loved: driving around.
