Demeanor: Dour, argumentative, full of himself, eager to overanalyze everything.

Nature: As above. He tends to act like people are puzzled to be solved. At the same time, he likes puzzles, and an interesting problem is one of the few ways to excite him, and an excited Blankety can actually be quite charming.

Description: Old, very noticeable jowls, heavyset. Looks a bit like a toad. Small, round glasses. Usually wears a waistcoat.

  • It's For A Book: 3. Recorded information is nice, but Blankety finds that there's really no substitute for a living, breathing knowledge depository. Of course, humans might not always be as easy as books to read. (+3 PERS when trying to draw information out of someone in a friendly social environment.)
  • Never Out of My Element: 4. Blankety's anthropological knowledge is extensive, and he's great at picking things up on the go. In addition, Blankety's been working with the Foundation for a while, and has added more arcane knowledge to his repertoire. (+2 to picking up on aspects of a foreign culture. +2 to esoteric knowledge, such as mythology or magic. Both these bonuses apply if an anomalous culture is involved, like the Daevites.)
  • Lost Librarian: 2. In the Foundation archives, everything in nice and neat and has its place. Not so in the field. Blankety has developed an eye for where to find what he's looking for. (+2 to PERC when trying to spot hidden doors, trps, compartments, passages and the like.)
  • Meat Shields: 3. Blankety isn't a fighter. Thankfully, a lot of people are, and that helps to keep some of the heat off him if he has to decipher the poem to disable the ancient temple's security systems in the middle of a fight. (+1 bonus to PDEF for each conscious player character in a combat scene with him, to a maximum of +3. If Blankety attacks, this bonus stops applying until he uses a turn to do something other than attacking.)

Personal History:

Fought as a soldier in the Great War. The experience has haunted him ever since. Graduated with two degrees in sociology and anthropology from Cambridge University. His intellect made him a choice pick for Her Majesty's Foundation for the Secure Containment of the Paranormal, a precursor organization to the Foundation. After WWII and the 7th Occult War rolled around, Blankety was passed along to the foundation with the other relics.
