The versatile business shirt: a staple of Nicole's Wardrobe

Player: Veiedhimaedhr

Position: Ex-MC&D Agent/MC&D Specialist

Demeanor: Nicole's a highly regimented individual with a drilled in respect for routine, work and premium standards. In conversation, she's a rather quiet individual who doesn't want to shut herself away but also doesn't like being the center of attention, or the center of an investigation, and will usually deflect by asking people about themselves. She's a lethargically charming individual full of friendly sarcasm and good table manners. In an argument, she seldom raises her voice. Can come across as slightly obsessive when it comes to aesthetics, style, etiquette and other matters. Bit of a drinker.

Nature: By all rights, Nicole should be as animate and friendly as a loaded hand-gun made of gold. Indoctrinated and drilled, Nicole is actively trying to shake off her past and become more personable, friendly, genuine…human. Whether intentionally or not, she has considerably mellowed out for sure. However, she's still regularly on guard and slow to trust. She knows her past could jump on her at any time, and from any, if not multiple, directions. Being a MC&D Agent with no love for the Foundation, in a Foundation facility, has left her, and administration, rather tight lipped and anxious. She is haunted by her past beneath the surface, and unsure of her place in the world.

Description: Nicole is an attractive 5'10 tall woman with fair skin and a slender, yet fit build. She keeps her long hair loose and typically arranges for bangs to partially fall over her left eye where a scar crosses over her brow, over her eye and down to her cheek. Her left eye is glass. There's a scar on her side, just underneath her right arm; heavy impact will cause her severe pain.

Usually dressed and styled impeccably with high-end suits, coats, ties and (if the situation demands) dresses. Very rarely seen in 'casual' or 'street' clothes.

Personal History:

Some egregiously rich families have a dynasty of butlers serving their own dynasty of gilded affluence. Children in the former have the pleasure of having their future secured from the moment of birth, with the only downside being that they're set to become…butlers. Some families style themselves as dynasties of warriors; if there was a war, they had an ancestor or relative who was there. The same applies, but the financial situation is worse, as is longevity. Nicole got to be both.

The only girl of five children born to Annette Thorncastle and Richard Reeves, Nicole was inducted into the life of professional killing and high society in 1960, Britain. In Nicole's case, her patrons were the Graves Family: frequent hosts for MC&D meetings, exotic auctions, illustriously salacious gatherings and other clandestine caucuses.

Nicole's upbringing involved the best education in the fields of higher academia, the arts, elitist etiquette, pistol marksmanship and, of course, good tastes. Nicole remembers that having trouble with the violin and piano because the lessons came right after the firing range instructions. But it was cold. The Graves Family was interested in Nicole and her family insomuch as they were premier enforcers. Her family felt the same about themselves and the children slowly became more akin to weapons than actual human beings. Nicole was eccentric, however. Her older brother, Alexander, called her unhinged. Nicole was simply more curious than her siblings.

It was a curiosity kept her anchored to fundamental humanity. It allowed her to secretly make friends with some of the Graves children, it allowed her to sneak out to the nearby vineyard during her breaks, it allowed her to read the books some of the house-staff smuggled to her in exchange for the odd favor she could provide (violin lessons for one maid's young girl, fitness routines for the elderly head butler gaining weight and so on).

That curiosity made her tacitly aware of what she was being groomed to do. Every so often, the Graves Family wouldn't host a wide selection of guests, but rather just 2 or 3. One would have a sack over their head, and her father would accompany them into the wine cellar. Alexander would be brought down to watch too sometimes. The house staff who did the cleaning were really tight-lipped about what they had to mop up, the hooded fellow didn't always come back up.

Nicole experienced her first Foundation raid when she was 19. She shot at real people for the first time. She saw her first death. And she caused her first death. When the dust was all on the ground, the Thorncastle-Reeves name was secure: not a single Graves or guest was harmed beyond bruises and cuts from tripping. The Thorncastle-Reeves family was less secure: Annette and 3 of her sons were dead. Nicole, Alexander and Richard were alive and the latter two became vicious, not a major change for Alexander. The Graveses moved and the Thorncastle-Reeves family became proactive agents. Alexander tore into Nicole for every divergent twitch as they trekked across Europe and, eventually, the United States acting on MC&D tip-offs regarding Foundation activities. They were professional and efficient, but Nicole was beginning to see the madness seeping into her family, and even beginning to feel it reaching out to her whenever she felt like mourning.

She decided to get out before she succumbed. An opportunity came when Richard moved them to an estate in Washington D.C that was expecting a raid. Nicole gathered all the information on MC&D she could gather, enough provisions to last for a week, and some valuables. When the raid started, Nicole made for the escape tunnels. Alexander was waiting for her. Alexander was better with the knife, but Nicole was the better shot and more reliant on actually dodging attacks as opposed to just taking them. Nicole limped out of that tunnel and into the DC night bleeding from her gouged out eye and a horrendous colony of stab wounds in her side. Alexander was left lying with his lower jaw blown off and his leg perforated with bullets.

It didn't take long for the Foundation to find Nicole. They patched her up as they listened to her story, and happily accepted everything she'd collected from her previous employers. She'd be under scrutiny, intense scrutiny, but as Chang Yu said, “When you have attracted [an enemy agent], you must treat them with absolute sincerity; then they will work for you with all their might."
