  • Psychic Surgeon [Anomalous]: 3. Due to the machinations of Rolf and Adriel, Muirenn was converted into something of a tear-drinker/skin-walker hybrid. She's not an actual tear-drinker, but does possess some modified versions of their abilities, blended with her own connection to life energy and power to manipulate it.
    • Muirenn can regenerate or metamorph her own body at an accelerated rate. If Muirenn loses a part of her body that wouldn't kill her very quickly (such as her heart, both lungs, or her brain) then she regenerates it over the course of 7/X hours, with X being the result of 4df+3. This does not regenerate physical health, as she still has to rest from the stress involved in the regrowth. Instead of regrowing a body part, she can instead use this time to metamorph an existing, healthy limb. The part can take on attributes from one of her original animal forms (seal, swan, deer, mouse, tiger, wolf) or back to human. These changes are mostly for flavor, but a GM could factor it in for any bonuses they want as they see fit.
    • Muirenn can also remove auxiliary limbs and organs and graft them on to other characters to help repair damage to them. The part will integrate with the new host, and may change shape to fit their appearance better. Full integration takes 72/X hours to be achieved.
    • Muirenn can also detect the presence of living organisms within approximately 30 feet of her, but not their exact location, and communicate with them telepathically.
    • If Muirenn's defense roll is higher than what she's defending against for a psychic attack, the attack gets reflected back to the source as painful feedback.
    • The Bleeding Heart [Anomalous Disadvantage]:
      • Muirenn's partial conversion has made her far more empathetically attuned. If a nearby ally is hit with a psychic attack or effect that Muirenn initially resisted, she receives a retroactive -1 to her roll for each ally that failed the roll, potentially causing her to fail as well.
      • Muirenn has inherited some tear-drinker vulnerability to fire (and living things don't get along all that great with fire most of the time anyway). Any damage Muirenn takes from fire or similar (e.g. lightning setting her on fire) takes twice as long as normal to heal and cannot be fixed immediately in the field with medical rolls.
  • Zoology Nerd: 4. Due to her connection with animals, Muirenn has in-depth knowledge of their behavior and biology. Extends to knowledge of animals and their behavior, and caring for and treating them.
  • Circle of Life: 3. Sometimes, nature just boils down to one thing eating another thing. As such, Muirenn has learned from the animals and become adept at hunting, gathering, trapping, skinning, swimming, fishing, and other similar skills.
  • Vitality: 2. Muirenn's partial conversion has left her with enhanced strength and speed. Bonus to strength for breaking and lifting, and agility for running, leaping, and climbing.

Personal History:

Muirenn was the third child (eventually out of eight) born to Peadar and Pádraigín Devlin. She was born on February 13, 1930 in a small fishing town in Ireland. She attended the local school and helped with the family trade of fishing when it was not in session. Unlike normal fishermen, the Devlins had an added asset in their business;Their family had long been able to transform into various animals, most often seals. Eventually, she traveled to a nearby college to study zoology.

After graduating, Muirenn returned home to help her parents and siblings with the fishing business. While she still helped with the fishing itself, both in and out of the water, she also helped to sell and barter with the fish. Unfortunately, she eventually got trapped in the net of another fisherman as a seal before being forced to change back. After this, Muirenn confined herself entirely to sales in hopes of keeping news of the incident from spreading. In spite of her efforts, the news did spread, making Muirenn something of a local legend; a legend that the Foundation eventually caught wind of. Muirenn was captured and placed in containment at Site-23 in Ireland.

Eventually, Muirenn was transferred to Site-77 for further study. After several further months of containment and study, she was offered a job working for the Foundation as a zoologist. Eager to leave containment, she readily accepted.

  • Muirenn's first name translates to “sea white, sea fair.” Her surname translates to "someone who has bad luck."
  • Anomalies like Muirenn are the basis for the legends of both Selkies and Native American Skinwalkers.
  • Even though she's no longer purebreed human, Muirenn isn't actually a teardrinker, either.
