Marissa Cassidy-Renfield

Basic Info:

Agent Marissa D. Renfield

Player: SpookyBee

Position: Virologist, Morale Officer

Demeanor: Kind, friendly, supportive, weathered, peppy

Nature: Marissa is not quite what she used to be. Lost and lonely, Marissa's falsified death has left her amiss from the world and feeling quite abandoned. Still, regardless of her own woes, Marissa tries her best to put on a smile for the people around her, when there are any.

She's not as much of an energetic troublemaker as she used to be- All of that faded out of her mind after being alone for so long.

Description: Marissa stands at 5'1" tall, and 138lbs. She has caramel-toned skin, and dark, auburn hair, with hazel eyes. Her voice is quiet, and she speaks with a stutter. Her hair reaches to her mid-back.

You have twelve points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • I Am Me: 3. Loneliness has brought Marissa into a sense of pure clarity, hardening her against psychotic fits or episodes of panic. She's reached a form of true mental defense that most aren't quite unlucky enough to have. (Bonus to MDEF vs. psychosis and panic-inducing effects.)
  • Wandering Virologist: 4. Marissa is a quick learner, and took to virology soon after her attachment to Psi-7. Working under Dr. Clymer, Marissa transferred to Site-77 early to receive advanced tutoring in the field. (Bonus to SCI/MED rolls involving viruses, poisons, toxins, disease, etc.)
  • Bard's Bluff: 2. Marissa is an excellent liar, but even moreso does her skill shine when she's prepared. She's got an infallible poker face, and it takes a truly masterful eye to penetrate her ruses and bluffs when she puts her mind to it. (Bonus to BLUFF and SNK when wearing a disguise of any kind, as long as her bluff fits the disguise and vice versa.)
  • Kleptomania: 2. Marissa has a tad bit of a history of thievery on her belt- A belt which she probably stole. She can be pretty quiet when she wants to be, and is pretty daft with her fingers! (Bonus to rolls involving silent movement when attempting to steal an item, as well as to the stealing itself.)
  • Bard's Performance: 1. Marissa loves to play her guitar, and she also loves to help people. She's skilled at playing tunes of many varieties. (Marissa may roll Bard's Performance + PERS vs. a target ally's base MDEF. If she passes their MDEF, Marissa may automatically heal a single point of MHEALTH on her target that was damaged from a natural fear or panic-based attack. Does not affect MHEALTH lost from magical or supernatural affects such as induced paranoia or induces psychosis. One use per target per day.)

Personal History:

Marissa was born Boston, Massachusetts, on February 5th, 1934. She spent most of her life homeless after her father was arrested for assaulting a police officer in 1944. She managed to stay with friends throughout her life up until she was arrested for assaulting someone during a heated argument.

The Foundation caught wind of Marissa's existence when the officer that had attempted to place her in custody was discovered entirely encased in a layer of stone. Marissa was soon identified and acquired by the Foundation.

She was acquired on October 24th, 1956.

During her time with Psi-7, Marissa took a liking to biological science, and was taken under the wing of Randall-Clymer, where she found her place as his lab assistant and learned a great deal in the wing of virology.

Early in 1957, Marissa made a transfer to Site-77, where she'd requested advanced tutoring in the virology field. The Foundation took Marissa as a volunteer to undergo an early-stage genetic procedure that neutralized her anomalous properties, and modified her physical and genetic makeup, leaving her entirely mundane. She spent several months acclimatizing to her new state, and in July, 1957, Marissa rejoined Psi-7 as a field-biologist and task force agent.

In late 1957, Marissa was kidnapped by the organization Marshall, Carter, & Dark while performing some field work on a flora-based anomaly. Originally meant to be sold for the neutralizing serum in her blood, Marissa shot in the back during an attempted escape during a Foundation raid on the auction house she was being kept at, before she was transferred to another selling site before she could be retrieved.

After these events, Marissa was relocated and then sold to a man in Philadelphia by MC&D, where she rather promptly murdered him and escaped, traveling across the United States on her own, avoiding people as much as she possibly could. Marissa eventually crafted a new identify of her own, using connections she'd made on the street, and took the name "Holly Day". Using her new forged documents, Marissa left the United States, flying to Rome where she spent more time on her own, before eventually taking a long voyage on-foot back to Site-77, where she was promptly offered the choice of amnestics and a return to the mundane world, or to return to the Foundation's service.

Having little for herself in the real world, Marissa calmly accepted the offer for some work.

  • While she was being observed and tested in a lab before joining Psi-7, Marissa picked up an interest in science and biology.
  • Marissa enjoys drawing quite a bit, but she doesn't think she's that good at it.
  • Marissa stole an acoustic guitar in her travels, and learned to play in her resting time. She's found that it helps her relax and relieve stress.
  • While trying to escape MC&D during a Foundation raid, Marissa suffered a bullet wound to her back, where she now has a scar in her shoulder. The bloodied clothes and Foundation ID card the MTF pulling off the raid found at the scene led them to believe she was dead.

Marissa's street name is Holiday, and she's a well-known musician in several states under her false name of Holly Day, touring bars and taverns with her guitar to earn some cash, as well as taking other odd jobs.

On April 27th, 1958, Marissa found herself married to a close friend she'd made in her travels. Using false documents, Marissa masqueraded as a man named 'Thomas Hardy', where she was wed to a young woman, Amelia Cassidy. After her partner's death in a car accident just over a month later, Marissa continues to wear her ring.
