Demeanor: Marcus acts like a caricature of a solder, often loudly boasting about his various adventures. He is a genuinely kind man, but can often come off as blunt or arrogant.

Nature: Marcus has lost many people who he has cared about throughout his life. Because of this, he is very protective of the people he works with. He will often put himself at great risk in order to prevent any sort of harm from happening to others. He is also self-conscious about his age and is beginning to feel like he is more of a burden compared to younger agents.

Description: A tall, middle-aged man who is at the end of his physical prime. Marcus has a number of small tattoos running across his arms that supposedly help him with his aim. While off-duty, he wears a custom made trench coat that has a number of occult symbols sworn into its interior. During missions, he wears his old Division Zero uniform, even though it is starting to show noticeable signs of age. He also has a slight speech impediment, causing him to occasionally mispronounce words while under stress.

  • You wouldn’t believe the shit I’ve seen: 3. Marcus's experiences in Division Zero, and as a paranormal gun for hire, has lead him to witness some pretty disturbing things. After seeing a man get slowly turned inside out over the course of an hour, most things look pretty tame by comparison. (+3 bonus against any form of fear or intimidation).

Marcus has over a decade of combat experience, and knows how to keep cool under fire, even in the face of grievous wounds (Whenever Marcus takes one full point or greater of physical damage, he gains +1 to both MEL/RAN for the rest of the combat encounter. This caps at 2. Bonus is lost when combat ends.').
  • Occult Expert: 4. Marcus has a vast amount of practical experience dealing with various occult phenomena (+4 bonus in academics, but only in occult-based knowledge).
  • Twitchy 3. From carefully avoiding landmines scattered across no-man’s land, to nearly getting decapitated by traps in an ancient tomb, various close shaves have given Marcus a healthy sense of paranoia, and cautiousness about looking where he steps. (+3 bonus to agility against concealed traps. Can only be used three times total on a run)

Personal History:

Marcus was born on September 26th, 1899 to Italian immigrants living in New York City. Growing up, he was constantly ridiculed for his foreign heritage and his overall poor performance in school.

When the United States joined World War One in 1917, Marcus saw an opportunity to not only be useful but to also prove his loyalty to his country. He immediately joined the army and was among one of the first American soldiers to arrive in Europe.

Despite the appalling conditions of trench warfare, Marcus had never felt so alive. His newfound skills in rifles lead him to become a candidate in the Allies’ Division Zero1 . He officially joined the organization in 1918, shortly after the end of war. He took to the anomalous world as easily as a duck takes to water; during his time in “dizzy”, he became very interested in mythical creatures and became a leading expert in slaying supernatural entities.

In 1928, Marcus was among one of the many agents who decided to quit the organization, primarily due to conflicts with their league of nations supervisors. He returned to America in 1929, just in time for the great depression. He managed to make a living by hiring off his services in the supernatural to the highest bidder, most notably MC&D and Prometheus Labs.

After the attack on pearl harbor in 1941, Marcus felt it was his duty to defend his country once again. He reenlisted in the US army, along with some of his former teammates, and was once again sent off to Europe. Unfortunately, this time, it didn’t go so smoothly. In 1942 Marcus took a bullet to the chest, collapsing one of his lungs. He spent the remainder of the war stuck in a hospital, recovering from his injury.

He returned to freelance work after the war, but the aftermath of his injury made his work increasingly more difficult. He stubbornly continued offering his services, until an old “dizzy” teammate offered him a position within a new paranormal organization calling itself the Foundation.
