After the Halbrick incident, Lucinda gained access to his skills and some of his memories, particularly those that dealt with the extraction and modification of the soul. Lucinda can roll either a 4df+3, which can then be defended against with an mdef roll by the opponent. If successful, the opponent will be temporarily incapacitated, and Lucinda is able to modify certain aspects of their soul. Note that if the subject is willing, mdef does not have to be rolled.
  • My voice sings to the soul: 3. Intense studying of the human soul, condition, and behavior has left Lucinda extremely skilled at manipulating others. +3 when alone with an individual target.
  • The abyss gazes back: 3. The strange demeanor resulting from Lucinda's broken soul often makes people around her uncomfortable, which can put them off their game. • The soul is fragile, handle with care [Anomalous disadvantage]: The Halbrick incident left Lucinda with an unstable soul and personality. Because of this, she is continually haunted by Halbrick's memories, parts of his personality, and residual traits from those she has operated on. Personal History:

Lucinda Hartstein was born to Jacob and Heidi Hartstein on September 23, 1923 in Boston, Massachusetts. Her parents were fairly wealthy, and she lead a easy childhood. Later, she attended █████████ University in order to study psychology, where she met Professor James Halbrick.

Halbrick was a professor of metaphysics at █████████ University, in addition to being a minor thaumaturge. Hartstein carried out her education normally for two and a half years, before being kidnapped as a test subject by Halbrick. After several months of experimentation and modification, an accident caused Halbrick to lose control of the thaumalogical working he was using to modify Hartstein's soul, killing him and fusing a good portion of his soul, personality, and memories to hers.

Having been broken and changed by the experiments and accident, along with already having disappeared for several months, Hartstein did not try to return to her previous life and relationships, instead choosing to run, leaving her homeless. She used her understanding of human behavior to carry out cons and to survive. She also continued Halbrick's legacy by carrying out the occasional experiment.

She was eventually apprehended by the Foundation, becoming one of the first anomalies stored in the new Site-77. Seeing potential, the Foundation put Hartstein through behavioral conditioning, and marked her as a tentative asset. After the move of Psi-7, she was appended to the task force.
