Personal History:

Kendra was born to a middle-class London family on March 31, 1903, with the distinction of being the very last child in the UK legally delivered by an unregistered midwife. Kendra had a fairly unremarkable childhood, getting high marks in her studies but not truly excelling at any one topic. She spent much of her free time learning about many topics, rarely staying on one fascination for too long, though she did always have a talent for music.

Towards the end of high school, Kendra's parents encouraged her to pursue her studies… but to pick a topic and stick to it, because they were not much interested in her dilly-dallying when it came out of their pocketbook. At the time Kendra was reasonably confident that she could do chemistry for a while, so that's what she went to get a degree in. The next twelve years were spent getting a chemistry degree, and then a master's degree, and then getting partway through a PhD before she was suddenly needed as her family's breadwinner after her father lost his job.

During the depression, Kendra worked as a chemist for several private firms performing research and, occasionally, oversight positions. During World War 2, the firm she worked with was contracted for high-priority weapons-related R&D, which meant that the British government had no intention of leaving her where bombing raids and axis-aligned saboteurs could get at her — she (and other researchers) spent a few years mostly underground, occasionally out in the middle of nowhere. Once the war was over, she happily returned to civilian life, completing her PhD in 1949 and taking a teaching and research position at the University of Manchester.

Left for the first time with secure finances and a job that wasn't so absurdly high-pressure, Kendra spent her spare time returning to some old interests that had fallen by the wayside… and once she got back in the swing of things, she got bored. Very much so.

A few other clandestine organizations (governments included) noted that Kendra (and her former coworkers) were both technically skilled and had spent some time cooped up in facilities and keeping secrets. Occasionally, recruiters would come around, typically to little avail considering that most had had their fill of that lifestyle and had landed comfortable, professionally rewarding positions. Kendra was the only one who was dissatisfied, and the Foundation managed to catch her attention not too long after she committed herself to a change of pace.

Miscellaneous:

While having a pleasant-enough demeanor and a sense of humor that pops up on occasion, nobody's actually seen or heard Kendra laugh. When questioned on the matter, she tends to say that it's never felt like a natural response.

Kendra has never left the United Kingdom before. The whole "mountain" thing came as a bit of a shock to her.

"I do all kinds of stupid and gay shit"- Kendra Stone (apocryphal)
