Jedediah "Jed" I. Sampson

Basic Info:

Player: NachtRuine

Position: Burly Wrench Monkey

Demeanor: Jed's the sort of guy that won't start a talk with strangers, but will pipe up if something concerns him. A farm boy at heart, he's appreciative of hard work. He's what he calls a real American - started from the bottom and worked his way to success. He won't have laziness about him, not while work's to be done!

Nature: Like a finely-cooked lobster, the best of Jed comes from underneath the hard shell. Under his hardened exterior hides a tasteful man who will stick thick and thin with his friends. He can be quite understanding of personal faults, as long as the person in question is working towards improvement. Above all else, however, he is a humble man, willing to admit when he's wrong, and is just as equally willing to put others first.

Description: Jed has a manly aura about him: stands straight with his broad shoulders, large callused hands, strong jaw, and reasonable hairiness. Said aura is somewhat betrayed, however, by his slightly short stance (5'6") and a top-heavy build. He has some slick, neat hair, and his beard varies - a well-kept 5-o'-clock shadow at best, and a wizard-like beard at worst. He walks with a slight limp that gets worse the less he moves about, and he's missing a tooth due to a billiards accident. Greatly prefers denim pants and a button up shirt, but he'll make due with a suit.

Personal History:

Jed was born about 1915 to a family of farmers. Just outside of Salem sat a collection of 5 families, all working together to survive the winters and the summers, settled along the Danvers River. They were small farms, with only enough surplus to occasionally trade for other essentials like clothes. Anything else, they simply had to make due with what they had.
The third of seven children, Jed learned quickly to stand his ground against his siblings who would try to shove him around, and to make sure he remained top dog - the first son was already an adult starting his own family and the second died just nine months before he was born - he had to make sure he was the strongest and the toughest. This feeling would follow him throughout life, just on the occasion he had to go back to wrassling pigs.
Once he was exiled at the able age of 23, he started working as a nomadic handyman, going from town to town looking for things that were broke and people willing to pay him to fix it. This proved to be a successful source of revenue for a few years until his funds began to run dry. He had two options at this point: vagrancy or the army. Thus, he joined the National Guard for 8 years - the shortest term allowable. While he never got to see action, he was able to (barely) get an engineer's degree thanks to the GI Bill.
Up until 1954, he occasionally worked as an adviser for larger projects, but his bread and butter was his old profession, a simple handyman (this time without the nomadry, deciding to settle down in upstate New York). But once again, his funds ran dry due to him trying to get a workshop up and running, and not wanting to go back to the military life, he turned to the SCP Foundation. Here he hopes to keep everything in running condition.
