Position: Researcher of the Eldritch

Demeanor: With the fact that she's looking at the floor by default and her semi shuffling gait, Janice seems constantly scared and like she wants to just not be here. During combat, she prefers to hide behind the meatiest ally or the best cover and hope that nobody aims at her. However, she is still not above shooting back at the enemy once she's in the relative safety of cover.

Nature: Regret. Janice is constantly regretting the life choices that ended up with her being here. She's got a love/hate relationship with the subject of her specialty. On one hand, it's something that not many can pull off, it truly is interesting, and it gets money on the table. On the other hand, it's left her with even more paranoia than she feels different, as if she's not who she used to be anymore.

Description: Janice is a shorti-ish human being, 5'05 and scared. Her pure black hair seems to be constantly disheveled, and while she does dress properly, her clothes seem to have a lot of wear on them. Despite this she continues to wear them without even bothering to iron them. She's skinny yet oddlt durable, being able to take more than her appearance implies.

Specialties

You have eight points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • Mind Fortress: 4. From years of researching things that man should not know, Janice's mind has been warped and changed to be able to comprehend. Janice gains a +2 against effects that makes Janice lose control of herself, and automatically wins against a mental effect if she critsucceeds the roll, regardless of DC or opponent's roll. This spec also allows Janice to roll against effects you typically can't roll against. Said effects have DC 10 to resist however.
  • Studious Discipline: 1. Janice's field of study falls into what's considered beyond these stars and minds. Education skills related to the Eldritch/things beyond this reality and topics of space are considered trained intelligence based skills.
  • Mental Buffer: 2. If you go into Janice's field of research, your mind can either adapt and overcome, or you can die and/or go mad. Janice has 2 mental damage reduction, meaning that any mental damage received is reduced by 2, but she still knows any effects/visions she would have received as a result of this damage.
  • Protect Me!: 1. Janice is… not a combatant. A good shot sure, but she does not like combat. Instead of attacking, she can spend a turn hiding behind an ally or cover. This cover lasts even if the ally moves. It's only negated if the ally goes out of their way to not be cover, is forcefully moved by an outside force, or goes unconscious (or in the case of nonliving cover, breaks). If a Janice is attacked in cover, she gains a +1 to defense rolls and allows her to use resilience against any nonmental action or attack, even if it typically doesn't allow resilience. If they target her meatshield, Janice gains a free attack against the enemy.
