Gabriel Dee

Basic Info:

Player: Recursive

Position: Anomalist

Demeanor: Gabriel is always calm, and always polite. Regardless of the situation he is placed in, Gabriel remains calm, and keeps a kind smile on his face. In fact, he's so calm, it gets to the point where it can be creepy. Even in the middle of a gunfight, he will remain completely serene. In conversation, he will often react strangely to things, laughing at inappropriate times, or reading far into an offhand comment. The average person would likely assume he has some sort of mental disorder.

Nature: Gabriel is very curious about how people live and think, as he very rarely left his home town until recently. Gabriel holds very little sense of self-worth, thinking of himself as only an instrument for the anomalous entities that were influencing his home town. What exactly he thinks of these entities (whether they are good or evil) remains to be seen, as only he and others from his home town completely understand the belief system. In any case, he thinks of every intelligent being as holding some shred of good in them, and will forgive and trust in situations where this is entirely unwise.

Description: Gabriel is homely, not attractive, not unattractive. He is in his early to mid twenties (no records of his birth were kept), weighs 71.56 kg, and is 177 cm tall. He has brown eyes, and hair to match. And of course, he is never seen without a patient smile. He typically dresses in business casual clothes (though he forgoes a tie and has… interesting ideas on how to button up his shirt), and leaves his hair messy and unkempt, as he believes putting too much effort into your appearance is a sign of vanity. He is caucasian, with a tan complexion. His movements are typically slow and calculated, but will move more quickly if the situation calls for it.

  • Hymn of Protection: 3. Due to his past interaction with anomalies, Gabriel has developed quite the resistance to them, to the point where he is regularly tasked to communicate with otherwise mentally damaging entities. This is courtesy of protection hymns he has learned to use to focus and fortify his mind. This skill applies to Mdef against non-damaging mentally intrusive (anomalous) attacks (telepathy, mind reading, possession). If how the mental attack works is more vague, GM discretion as to whether the skill is applicable or not. (MDEF, only against non-damaging attacks)
  • And he shall Smite the Wicked: 3. Though he prefers to find peaceful solutions to problems, Gabriel understands that not everyone is willing to listen to reason. For this reason, he has learned a style of fighting similar to Aikido (defending oneself while not necessarily attempting to harm the attacker) or Judo. Unfortunately, this only works on unarmed opponents, meaning he cannot use this against foes with knives, guns, clubs, etc. (MELEE on unarmed opponents.)
  • White Mage: 3. As he typically takes a noncombatant role, Gabriel has taken measures to educate himself on how to patch up his allies if need be. This only extends to minor to moderate wounds, as he is by no means a doctor. (MEDICAL for minor injuries, up to helping to set a broken bone.)
  • Reading R'lyehbow: 3. Due to his upbringing and investigation into the paranormal, Gabriel has developed a proficiency in translating occult languages of several varieties. (ACADEMICS, only for translating or understanding the meaning of occult texts)

  • A book of hymns, small enough to carry in his shirt pocket. The text is handwritten.
  • A small talisman in the shape of a heart.
  • A notepad, filled with Gabe's shorthand (practically unreadable to others, unless they can read Enochian.)

  • Several notebooks in the same shorthand as his personal notepad.
  • A collection of photos of people from his home town, and some of…. others?
  • A small mirror, under his bed. Perhaps he's not so above it all.

Personal History:

Gabriel Dee was born in a town (not named on any maps, and any and all records containing history of the town have been destroyed by the members) in Northern Arizona, in the United States. The placement of this town happened to coincide with a rift in dimensions, meaning that areas of one dimension would occasionally overlap with another. This union of dimensions allowed extradimensional entities to communicate with the founders of this town, leading to the founding of a cult dedicated to these entities, which were mistaken to be angels by the cultists. The cultists were very rarely allowed to leave town, and were trained from birth to clear their minds to become perfect vessels for these entities, whose ultimate goal was to create a fusion of human and themselves to spread into this dimension. Gabriel was in the middle of a ritual attempting fusion (which has not yielded any known successful results) when the town was discovered and seized by MTF Theta-8.

After the site was placed under Foundation control, the people of the town were relocated after extensive periods of observation. As Gabriel was deemed unfit to enter society, he was allowed to stay in Foundation custody after his resistance to mentally invasive anomalies became clear. Later, he was transferred to Psi-7 due to the appearance of numerous anomalous entities, in hopes of being able to allow for better communications and increased defense against mentally damaging threats.

  • Italian
  • Unknown language (likely a variation of Enochian created by his home town.)

Gabriel spends the majority of his free time in the chapel, though he has been encouraged to interact with other agents in commons and other areas to improve his social skills.
Though he is very deep into his own faith, he prides himself on being accepting of others beliefs, sometimes putting him at odds with other members of his cult.
The language he writes in and occasionally speaks is a variation of Enochian, a language created by John Dee and Edward Kelly, who claimed it was the language of the angels.
His last name is not likely to be the original last name of his family, as several members of the town he was born in were known to change their names to the last names of various historical figures thought to communicate with angels.
Gabriel retains some odd mannerisms from his lack of any real normal human social interaction, such as kneeling to those in authority until spoken to. This is also the reason he pronounces his name as Gah-breel instead of Gae-Bri-El.
