Donna Grant

Player: DSJ

Position: Thaumatic Researcher

Demeanor: Very relaxed and laid back, Donna gives off a vibe that she's happy with whatever she's doing.

Nature: Donna grew up to very relaxed parents, and inherited their attitude. She does care about her work to a high degree, however.

Description: 5’7” with tawny hair, Donna prefers wearing light dresses, usually with pants in the event something happens in the thaum lab and she needs to run. She wears glasses, which annoys her whenever she has to wear additional protective eyewear.

  • Music Mage: 2. Donna specializes in one particular thing, the creation of thaumatic tapes, or in layman’s terms, tapes with spells on them. This doesn’t come from innate talent, as she requires an external source of energy to actually get the spells to bond with the tape, meaning she cannot create more in the field. Playing these tapes releases the spell within them but this is also releases the energy that makes the spell work, leaving it useless. Donna is allotted enough energy and tapes to have 3, and can recreate one every two days. She can learn more bonuses through studying spells and properly interpreting them, but for now she simply has a protection spell that adds a +2 to a defense roll for one specific teammate. This can be cast 3 times.
  • Sorcery Scholar: 3. Donna may not be a real wizard, but she knows a lot about magic in general, giving her an edge in studying the topic. +3 to rolls involving magical knowledge.
  • I See Dead People: 3. Donna’s studies have left her particularly adept at spotting the intangible, but mostly just for ghosts and similar apparitions. +3 to perception when looking for ghosts and similar beings, does not apply to more conventional invisibility.

Personal History:

Donna was born on January 9th, 1960. Her childhood wasn’t exactly normal, as she first grew up in a commune that was eventually raided by Foundation agents in 1963 on suspicion of arcane activity. While the entire cult wasn’t responsible, enough of the adult leadership was to leave the children by and large homeless. They were taken in by the Foundation,in an attempt to avoid using recently developed amnestics on toddlers given the risks involved. She was raised by two researchers from then on, Doctors Hugh and Amy Grant, whose principle field of study was magic. Donna ended up following in their footsteps, though she didn’t have the natural aptitude her adopted parents did. She eventually was transferred to Omega-5 after finishing her studies and passing combat aptitude tests.

  • Donna has tried to start a radio station on site multiple times and been denied because "we have actual work we need you to do, Donna."
  • Donna has a fake wand collection from when she was younger and very into fake magic

  • VERITAS: An improvement on 1950s Foundation tech, this VERITAS is more powerful than predecessors but also in the form of a hand-held counter rather than a head-mounted display. Can give readings of background levels of thaumic radiation (which, sadly, only covers a certain subsection of anomalies) and tell you if an EVE-manipulator is a reality warper, thaumaturge, or neither given a biological sample.
