Demeanor: With slicked hair and a bright smile, one would assume Richard was an aspiring entrepreneur rather than a detective. Sociable, personable, and charismatic if overly eager to please.

Nature: Lover of knowledge and bizarre concepts, Richard constantly indulges in new ideas and perspectives, engaging in philosophical conversations and debates even if he only has a base-line understanding of the subject matter. Extroverted with a strong desire to be liked and perceived highly by any individual he meets, occasionally putting on a different "mask" depending on who he is talking to. Bent on displaying confidence, Richard constantly puts on a charismatic facade to hide deep insecurities relating to his physical appearance and self-worth. Extremely organized with fixed routines and detailed processes of investigation. When under intense pressure or if felt that he needs to reach a high expectation, Richard will find himself prone to breakdowns and migraines. Annoyed by slack personalities and abhors messes though he may not always show it.

Description: Richard stands at 5'10 with an athletic build, though he has more pudge around the midsection than he likes to admit. Black hair, blue eyes, and a defined face structure, his pointed, crooked nose stands out from the rest of his features. He slicks his hair back with a side part and keeps a clean shaven appearance. When investigating, he typically adorns a double-breasted pinstriped suit with a concealed Beretta M92F placed within a gun strap underneath. At Site Lounging, he can be seen wearing a black leather jacket with a fleeced collar, black trousers and a red dress shirt.

Personal History:

Born February 15, 1956 in the suburban areas of Woodworth, Texas, Richard spent his childhood engaging in his imagination. Obsessed with westerns, superheroes, and secret agents, Richard would spend his time patrolling the neighborhood, thwarting villain's only he could perceive. He spent as much time as possible outside of the run-down home he and his single mother occupied, for inside would come the shouts and verbal barrages. It's not that Richard didn't love his mother, rather that he was confused by her. If he did something he wasn't supposed to or made a mistake on a rather simple chore, his mother would proceed to refer to him by the prevalent nicknames of "stupid", "mistake", and "dummy", often inquiring of him why he was such an "idiot". On the opposite side of this, should Richard achieve outstanding academic grades or surprise his mother with a clean house, she would affectionately thank him, buy him a treat, and let him stay up to watch whatever shows he wanted. This led to Richard's deep-rooted desire for perfection and affection, convincing himself that in order to have worth he must consistently prove himself to obtain it.

Richard graduated top of his class with a full ride to any university of his choosing, initially desiring a career within the film industry. Upon studying a variety of detective films for his course, he became entranced with the occupation, developing an ever-expanding love for puzzles and mystery. Richard ended up receiving a criminal justice degree and then immediately enrolled within Houston's Police Academy.

He was immediately paired with the late Jonathan Neil, a grizzled detective of the force; the two grew close in the span of year, Jonathan serving as a mentor/father figure for the aspiring lad. Unfortunately, the two would end up parting ways during a kidnapping case gone south. The two had tailed a kidnapping suspect to an abandoned factory; an obese man (or "fat [EXPLETIVE EXPUNGED]", as Jonathan would say) was reported to have kidnapped a young girl at a local elementary school. Upon confronting the man, both detectives were surprised to find the man quite literally armed; as in he had four arms. Richard laments over the incident as his greatest mistake, too stunned to react as Jonathan's head was popped open like a zit. Upon MTF Tau 4 ("All Things Bright and Dutiful") coming onto the scene, Richard was found outside over the corpse of the SCP-1788 instance. Thinking on his feet and realizing that bullets were pretty much ineffective, Richard was able to trick the "fat [EXPLETIVE EXPUNGED]" into charging straight out a window on the fourth floor of the factory. After initial interrogation and confinement, the plan was to amnesticise the young investigator until the higher-ups read the full report. Instead, they gave him an extraordinary opportunity to work with the Foundation as an Anomalous Investigator, tracing down anomalous activities and entities. He accepted, realizing the opportunity to expand his horizons even further. Little did he know of the vast world he was being thrust into.
