Specialties
  • Emergency Direction: 2. Persuasion Medical personnel don't have to fight their way through a crowd to treat someone on the street. All they do is say, "Hey, I'm a (title regarding level of training)!" They become the commander of the situation, instructing people how to best help in the situation. Sometimes that could mean getting the heaviest guy there to do crowd control on the perimeter. (+2 PERS to calming/directing nonhostile NPCs in crowded areas where someone is injured, on GM discretion)
  • Acute Care: 2. Medicine Though he's unable to offer definitive care in a field environment without the proper tools, Daniel can keep someone from succumbing to trauma they have recently sustained for hours. (+2 to his first 1d4 medical roll, +1 to his next two 1d4 medical rolls, his final medkit rolls have no bonus. Only offers bonus when under fire.)
  • Drew A Bead: 2. Ranged Heavy Words have a lot more importance when backed by a bullet. A flight gunner/medic in Vietnam, Braeburn's a good enough shot to make most people think twice. (+2 to his [H] Ranged roll and no setup time required if he uses this spec. The roll goes against an NPC's determination, with the difference subtracting from any of that NPC's opposing rolls against PERSUASION. No damage, since it's not meant to hit. +2 to his [H] Ranged roll if using a mounted weapon.)
  • The Weight On My Shoulders: 2. Athletics/Resilience Having both rucked miles in heavy gear and transporting wounded on his back through a battlefield, Braeburn has gone through the suck strong and came out stronger. (+2 ATH/RES/ whenever lifting something heavy on his back or carrying a teammate)

Personal History:

Daniel Braeburn was born in April, 1949, to ███████ and ███████ in Georgia, United States. All his fathers before him were military men, so he figured he'd keep the line coming. And he did, serving in Vietnam as a helicopter door gunner.

Shotgun riders were taught first aid, in the event a pilot or another door gunner was shot and needed medical assistance. Sometimes, they supported missions where MH-53s carrying Pararescuemen were going around and finding lost pilots. During this period, Braeburn met Elias Birken.

A dozen or so missions had them fighting off ambushes to rescue dying pilots and soldiers from the Vietnam brush. One nasty gutshot from an SKS sent Braeburn to a military hospital after a mission. He returned to duty a few months later, minus a few inches of intestine.

After the war, he decided to stop serving in the military and begin serving society instead, becoming an EMT, then EMT-P with the local company in his state, alongside Birken. He and Birken later served in their local fire department while Birken was in school for medicine.

The two parted ways for a short while, until Birken and Braeburn were reunited in an effort to quarantine the Viral Agent A01█████ outbreak in ███████, 1980. There, both were offered a job at the Foundation.

Both accepted.

Loot

The Clean Gun: Kills 99.9999999999% of germs! A small pistol-sized tool that looks kind of like a phaser, was cooked up by the biomedical branch and a guy from cognitohazards to use ultraviolet and sonic pulses to disrupt viral and bacterial growth and clean and sterilize surfaces. Can be shone on an open wound to help sterilize it. Will likely slow the spread of anomalous diseases, but may not protect against them entirely. Science or Medical to use.
