Alim Fakhoury

Basic Info:

Player: TesKin

Position: Religious Scholar/Part-time Assassin

Demeanor: Calm, genial, affable.

Nature: Calm, genial, affable.

Description: Alim stands at a regular five feet and eight inches and is of apparently average build. He carries himself with a slouch and soft footfalls. His skin is a few shades darker than average, his face is soft and gentle in appearance, and his black hair is kept cut short and swept over in popular fashion. He dresses in suits of neutral colors, typically grey or black, button-down shirts, suspenders and patent-leather shoes. Overall, he has carefully cultivated his appearance to be that of the average man - unassuming, unremarkable, and easy to forget. Most of the skin on Alim's right hand was melted away by acid, leaving it crippled and unusable and then replaced by a sheath of animate ballistics gel, usually covered by a leather glove. Most of Alim's left arm, from the elbow down, was severely damaged, leaving it scarred.

Specialty Skills:

You have twelve points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • Tools of The Trade: 4. Being an assassin means that you have to do a great deal of training in the killing arts. Of course, an assassin prefers to remain undiscovered while plying his trade; but every now and then you get a particularly difficult or perceptive mark, or you just slip up (hey, nobody's perfect) and it all comes down to being able to whomp ass in any given situation. Because of his training, Alim gains a +4 to Stealth. While concealed, Alim gains a +4 to melee while using his hands, garrote wire, or small bladed weapons like knives and daggers. If he fails a stealth check the bonus is halved (+2). When at long range and using a rifle equipped with optics, he gains a +4 to Ranged; when in close quarters, moving, or using any other firearm, the bonus is halved (+2).
  • "Alim" Means "Scholar": 5. Because of his time spent learning about Islam, Alim is quite knowledgeable on the subject. Alim gains a +2 in Academics when researching non-Islamic faith systems, and +5 when researching anything connected to Islam.
  • Sharp Eye: 3. Alim has trained himself to detect traps and scout out possible ambush locations. When he is actively looking for concealed hostiles, or checking for traps, Alim gains a +3 to Perception.

Personal History:

Alim was born in Budapest, Hungary, on May 2nd, 1923. He lived a normal life, going through high school without much trouble, and on to college to become a religious scholar focused in Islamic faiths. After the failure Operation Barbarossa, and the following Soviet occupation, Alim became a book seller, in an attempt to conceal his Islamic faith due to the policy of Atheism in the Soviet Union. During his time running a small book store the [REDACTED] University in Budapest began to take an interest in Alim because of his background in Islamic studies. The [REDACTED] University requested that Alim accompany them on an expedition to a potential archaeological dig site in the Nusayriyah mountain range. While exploring the mountains, the group discovered a fortress, which the archaeologists dated back to the 13th century. While investigating the ruins, Alim discovered an old register of Hashashshashin assassins, which contained his family name, and texts explaining the Hashashshashin, and their methods, as well as an old dagger. Soon after this discovery, Alim began training in the ways of assassination, eventually becoming quite good at it. He used the book store as a front for his operation, eventually gaining enough contacts to obtain better weapons in the Soviet occupied area. Eventually, the Foundation caught wind of Alim, and his skill set and recruited him.

Alim is well versed in the language of Islam, as well as German and Russian.
