Alexander Mørstad

Basic Info:

Player: Kath.

Position: Security Agent/Negotiator.

Demeanor: Quiet and tactful. Generally courteous unless given provocation to act otherwise.

Nature: Potential to be exceptionally conversational and even friendly, though often chooses not to instigate casual chat by himself, and almost never talks of himself. Alexander is a very work-focused individual who is often not the most upfront, and instead is highly capable of applying tact - be it in the form of encouragement to outright lying - in order to achieve something.

Description: Reasonably tall (6'0"), medium build — surprisingly strong for someone of his profession. His facial features are square and strong - gruff may be more accurate given his tendency to go without shaving - and overall gives a stoic look. His hair is often messy — a tangle of dirty-blond hair that comes past his shoulders, but is usually worn in a ponytail. Fair-skinned and pale-eyed — his eyes being a light, cold grey.
Often pairs a dress shirt with military-style combat pants or jeans as his everyday attire.

  • I hear unspoken truths from the serpent's tongue: 4. Alexander is an adept communicator in both physical and verbal forms. His ability to recognise various cues is exceptional, and often very little will go over his head. (+4 to PERC in contexts where an opposing character may be lying. Can only be used ONCE per run/scenario.)
  • "Do not make this harder than it needs to be.": 3. As a negotiator, Alexander has learned the hard way that not everyone can be compliant. Striving to avoid resorting to unconventional measures, he instead has learned how to work with words in ways that make intentions more favourable. (+3 to PERS when trying to get someone to carry out actions, in 1:1 non-combat scenarios only.)
  • "Unconvincing.": 3. He knows many tricks and tactics used by people when it comes to negotiation (and even employs a few himself). That said, it's easier for him to tell whenever someone is being very deliberate in their persuasion. (+3 to MDEF against opposing persuasion rolls.)
  • Safeguard Secrets: 2. He knows how to keep hush-hush about himself when people are looking for information, and make it convincing. (+2 to BLUFF when convincing people of falsified information about himself.)

Personal History:

Born in 1914 to upper-class trade business owners, Alexander Johansen Mørstad was one of three children — the eldest — had by the Mørstad family, and took up residence in Drammen, Norway.

He was particularly…odd in his youth, as some might put it, opting for a more quiet yet attentive demeanour - unlike his siblings, who later showed to be rather rambunctious compared to their elder brother.
This may however have been attributed to Alexander favouring the company of his mother - a woman who in her own right was just as reserved, if not borderline taciturn. He would also later come to learn that she was also a woman of immense tact and wit.

Using the voice of his father, Alexander's mother pulled on every string the family trading business had, leading it through to some of its greatest successes. Alexander learned from his mother, too - her methods to cajole and even coerce people into doing her wishes was something that he was made to take on board, and would end up to be methods he still carries with him to this day.

By the time WWII had started, Alexander had taken the business under his own control after his father had passed away suddenly. Still under the guidance of his aging mother, he fought to maintain the business's influence within the country, however this was not destined to last.
By early-1940 the Germans had begun to invade Norway and, unable to resist in any way, what remained of the Mørstad family fled.

What happened to his siblings is unknown, and his mother was killed in the crossfire as the effects of the war ravaged through Norway. He himself barely just got out of the conflict, and made a wobbly escape to freedom by heading for the UK.
While his English was far from perfect he was eventually able to work for the local government as a negotiator, passing communications across the country during difficult times and ensuring whatever little stability the country had left in his own ways.

Some years after the war he continued his work for the government not only as a negotiator but a security agent in time, learning to deal with the physical confrontation side of negotiations gone awry. His work as a negotiator in particular was what gained him notice by the Foundation's ranks.
