Demeanor: Adeline seems like a kindhearted person, prone to irreverent humor and some dorkiness, but can also be deadly serious, mostly when out in the field. She tends to have an air of responsibility about her, lending herself to taking care of people and thinking about the well being of others.

Nature: Adeline is a caring, kindhearted person who wants what is best for pretty much everyone. she takes care to think about how other people feel, and often extends this to animals too. She is quite good at keeping a level head most of the time, but is also easily distracted. She loves to run and can occasionally get quite defensive of her space or opinions.

Description: Adeline is a tall, slim young woman of 27 years standing at 5'7" tall. She has a slender, slightly athletic build with pale skin, hazel green eyes and mid length wavy auburn hair which she likes to wear out, but tends to keep in a bun or messy ponytail when working. Adeline tends to dress practically, though does love the new women's jeans and sleeveless blouses that are coming more and more into fashion.

Specialties

You have twelve points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • Adapt, Improvise, Overcome: 5. Following her accident, Adeline has dedicated a lot of her time to learning how to survive in extreme conditions, reading many guides and spending a lot of time in the mountains near her hometown. Survival in alpine environments.
  • Field Medicine: 4. Part of her learning to survive in the wild involved learning how to treat wounds away from real medical aid. This has made her quite good at treating lacerations, sprains and breaks with rudimentary equipment. Bonus to medical in regards to treating physical injury without access to medical supplies.
  • Panthers Spirit (Anomalous): 3. After three weeks stranded alone in the rocky mountains on the verge of death, Adelines pleas for help were heard by a nature spirit. this gave her the power to survive in this habitat by changing her into a cougar, an ability she has retained. As a cougar she gains +3 to agility and melee, but -3 to mdef and loses the ability to speak. This change can also be triggered by extreme stress (Mental Defense DC 5 to avoid transforming when turning into a panther could save her from a dangerous situation).
  • Panthers Debt (Drawback): Unfortunately, Panther is not in a philanthropic mood. Adeline must constantly prove herself worthy of the gifts he bestows, or face the consequences. Whenever she transforms into a panther, she incurs one point of debt. While she is in debt, Panther (controlled by a GM) can attempt to compel a certain course of action, often along the lines of fulfilling the panthers instincts, such as 'Go kill and eat ten rabbits, I'm hungry' 'woo that one guy in medical' 'wage war on the raven spirit, it laughed at me' etc etc. Adeline can either attempt to comply, try to convince Panther to give her a different task, or take a curse until one of the previous two goals is accomplished. The curses are outlined below, and are chosen by the GM if Adeline refuses. The chosen curse cannot make it impossible for her to complete the task. While she is cursed, Panther cannot try to compel any other courses of action.
    • Debt: 0
    • Dance of the Wild: A transformation of the body. Adeline becomes covered in fur, gets panther ears and facial markings, and a tail. Hard to conceal.
    • Call of the Wild: A transformation of the mind. Adeline takes a -1 to Academics, Science, and Engineering. She also becomes more impulsive and animalistic.
    • Call of the Otherworld: A transformation of the heart. Adeline's maximum m-health and p-health both drop by 1. She experiences constant chills, shadows deepen, and she becomes more visible to ghosts and the like, able to see them too.

Personal History:

Adeline was born in Chicago on August 9th, 1931. she grew up in a happy family with her parents and two brothers, and her life was spent between school and hobbies like photography. As she grew older, she became a photographer for National Geographic, which is what led her to the events of January 1955. Her plane was flying over the Rocky mountains en route to their next shoot, where they were to try capture images of arctic wolves, when a technical malfunction caused the plane to crash into the mountainside. Adeline was the sole survivor by merit of being flung from the shredded wreckage before it slipped down a deep ravine and exploded violently. After digging herself out of the snowbank, having a panic attack and getting the lay of the land, Adeline set off in a random direction to try and reach safety. She was thankfully dressed warmly for the trip, but still suffered terribly in the cold and snow, not knowing how to hunt or lay traps, relying on tree bark and berries to survive until eventually exhaustion got the best of her as she crawled towards a cave. She collapsed and lay in the open, silently begging God, Jesus, Buddha, anyone who would listen to help her. And after a time, something did. An animal spirit possessed her body, changing it to that of a mountain lion. with these instincts and powerful body, she was able to sniff out water and follow it downstream to civilization where she gained her own body back. Spending a week in hospital recuperating, she slowly accepted what had happened to her and how she had changed. She returned to her home in Colorado, and set about learning survival skills so that she would never again be caught in such a terrible position again. It was in this time that she learned her power was not a one off event. Practicing lighting fire with no tools, she was confronted by a mother grizzly bear. The fear and adrenaline caused Adeline to change once more, fleeing from the animal. Realizing this was part of her now, she began to dedicate time to learning to control this transformation, and was eventually successful.
It wasn't until 1957 that she even heard of the Foundation, when she was called by a wealthy man to a private photo shoot, only to be met by the horrific sight of a Marshall Carter and Dark auction house. she was wanted to shoot the items for a brochure, and would be compensated generously for her discretion. this of course led to no small amount of fear, which triggered a change. As she fled, she was captured and locked away while the auction house manager figured out what to do with her. In the meantime, a foundation raid commenced and she was rescued and given a choice. Go back to her old life with no friends and a hostile group after her for what she knows, or join them and see the world. She chose the latter.
