Specialties

You have eight points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • Theological Tutelary: 4. As a consequence of his experiences and training with handling theistic anomalies, Aalam knows a number of rituals, prayers, etc. to shield himself or another from mental anomalies. He can roll 4df+4 to attempt to negate the effects of a mind-altering anomaly on himself or another.
  • Glimpse the unthinkable: 3. Aalam has undergone mental conditioning for encountering a certain type of anomaly. Can roll insight with an additional +3 bonus when first affected by a mind-affecting anomaly to understand the effect and/or it's source.
  • Blessed Ballistics: 1. Carries a revolver with six personally sanctified rounds loaded. +1 bonus to up to six ranged attacks against 'unholy' targets.

Gear:

A variety of holy talismans form a myriad of religious traditions, just in case.
A small black book with prayers of protection or warding from a myriad of religious traditions, also just in case.

Possessions:

More theological stuff. So many books.

Personal History:

Born to a pair of upper middle class parents who'd recently immigrated to the states. Grew up in Arizona, went to college in California where he was almost sacrificed by a girlfriend who turned out to be some flavor of cultist. He escaped with his life and more or less all of his sanity. Following his close encounter with the cult, he at some changed majors to the study of the occult, and threw himself into his new field with a peculiar intensity. Eventually-a week or two before he was about to graduate with a PhD, he was caught up to by a foundation team cleaning up loose ends associated with his cultist ex-girlfriend. After vetting and a year or two of training, Aalam was recruited into the foundation.

Loot

VERITAS: An improvement on 1950s Foundation tech, this VERITAS is more powerful than predecessors but also in the form of a hand-held counter rather than a head-mounted display. Can give readings of background levels of thaumic radiation (which, sadly, only covers a certain subsection of anomalies) and tell you if an EVE-manipulator is a reality warper, thaumaturge, or neither given a biological sample.
