Aveah Mariah

Player: Klurg

Position: Biomedical Engineer

Demeanor: Perpetually annoyed, irritable. Aveah seems to be more comfortable alone in her own little place working on her stuff. On rare occasions, she will be more open with certain people she seems to deem trustworthy.

Nature: Aveah's passion is her engineering, usually preferring that to anything else. When it comes to social skills, she's as talented as a wet tissue paper due to years of dealing with multiple assholes, leaving her with some mistrust, though she's open to at least try.

Description: Aveah's 6'00 with toned muscles. She's got multiple small scars on her hands from machinery mishaps and a broken front tooth from one of her brawls. Avery's hair is a dark blonde and she has dark blue eyes. Her face seems to be in a perpetually annoyed expression by default.

Specialties

You have eight points to distribute among as many or as few specialty skills as you see fit (but at least three is almost always warranted). Remember to explain what each specialty entails.

  • Mental Fort: 1. Aveah's made herself a 'safe spot' so to speak whenever she's stressed or angered. From the time working with the foundation before becoming a field agent, she's learned to apply this to mental threats. Antipsychic is considered a trained skill when dealing with commands that will make her harm herself or others. If she ever makes Antipsychic a trained skill, she gains a +1 to it when dealing with the above activation conditions.
  • Biomechanical Engineering: 3. Aveah's training and experience have taught her how to best build, maintain, and install prosthetics and the like. +3 to medical/engineering involving building, interacting with, or installing prosthetics and similar constructs relating to biomedicine.
  • Brawler 2. From years of dealing with problematical people, Aveah knows how to take a hit and give one back. +2 resilience (to avoid damage) against unarmed or light melee weapons.
  • Wind up 2. In a fight, Avery takes her time to give the most painful blow possible. If Avery chooses to not act on the previous turn and 'charge up' a melee attack with this spec, she can roll 2d4 for damage if the attack hits.

Gear:

  • Various Engineering Gear
  • 9mm Pistol
  • Pocket Knife (light weapon)
  • Swiss Army Knife
  • Medkit
  • Container to store stuff
  • Tracking Beacon: A small, button-sized device that adheres to almost any surface and is very difficult to detect. Can be discreetly applied to any item without needing an action as part of an Engineering roll on that item. Battery life of 8 hours once activated. No maximum range, but can be blocked by things like lead or a faraday cage. 1/run (MTF gear)
  • Nanopatches: Reverse-engineered from some nenotech lifted off Promethean Industries back in the ‘70s. These 2” square patches can corrode through most non-anomalous woods, plastics, and metals given enough time, self-destructing and rendering themselves inert after eating through a surface. Safeguards prevent them from going hog-wild on living organic matter, though you might be able to leave a nasty acid burn with one in a pinch. 3/run. (MTF gear)

Possessions:

  • More engineering things
  • Boxing bag and lifting gear

Personal History:

Aveah was born December 5th, 1958 to a Russian mother and American father in Iowa. She faced discrimination and bullying during her school years for being both part Russian and being a girl trying to pursue an engineering career. This led to Aveah being both irritable and violent, getting into numerous fights during schoo with those who relentlessly teased and bullied her. Through a combination of managing to take the fights outside of school and her father being terrifying and telling the school what it's doing wrong by not protecting Aveah more, she managed to stay in school without getting expelled, then go to college.
College wasn't much better, but Aveah managed to avoid getting into fights during that time, as she knew they could expel her in a heartbeat and nobody could do anything about it. Once she managed to get into the working world… almost nobody wanted her, as she was a woman and part Russian in a paranoid and sexist 1980s US. She was stuck doing jobs in small engineering shops that barely paid enough to keep fed and lay off her debts. Luckily, the Foundation was looking for talent, and what better target than someone who's skilled and society doesn't want. After some screening and training, Aveah was accepted into the Foundation as a biomedical engineer.

Miscellaneous:

  • Knows English and Russian
  • Engineering gear is arranged in alphabetical order
  • MTF: Epsilon 9
